OFFICERS

MR. JACQUES PERRON*

Chairman, Canadian Mineral Industry Education Foundation

Corporate Director

Jacques Perron has over 35 years of experience in the global mining industry and has extensive technical and operations experience. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Franco-Nevada and Centerra Gold Inc. Most recently, Mr. Perron was President,  CEO and Director of Pretium Resources Inc.  Prior to that, he was President, CEO  and Director of Thompson Creek Metals Company Inc. and St. Andrew Goldfields Ltd.  He has held senior executive roles at a number of other mining companies including Iamgold and Cambior Inc. Mr. Perron has been a director of the Canadian Mineral Industry Education Foundation since 2007 and Chairman since September 2022. Mr. Perron is himself a past recipient of the CMIEF scholarship. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering from l'École Polytechnique de Montréal.

MR. FREDERIC RUEL

Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer, Osisko Gold Royalties Ltd

 

Frédéric Ruel has over 18 years of experience in financial reporting and has been involved in the mining industry for over 13 years. Prior to joining Osisko Gold Royalties, he held the position of Director, Corporate Reporting for Canadian Malartic Partnership, Osisko Mining Corporation and Consolidated Thompson Iron Mines. Mr. Ruel began his career as an auditor in a premier Canadian accounting firm where he worked for 7 years. He is a member of the Ordre des Comptables Professionnels Agréés du Québec and holds a Master in Accounting from the Université de Sherbrooke. Mr. Ruel is also involved with other public companies in the mining industry.

MS. TERESA ACS

Director, Professional Development and Process Excellence, The Bank of Nova Scotia Trust Company, Head Office

Teresa is responsible for the development and implementation of technical programs for Scotiatrust’s Trust Professions and is responsible for projects focused on improving the client experience.  Teresa has worked in the Estate and Trust industry since 1980, holding various roles including management of various foundation and scholarship accounts.  She is a member of the Scotiatrust Executive Office team and actively involved in causes in her community.

Jacques Perron’s career of more than 35 years in the global mining industry has included extensive technical and operational experience. Mr Perron joined Pretium Resources in April 2020 as President and CEO. Most recently, Mr. Perron was a Corporate Director for various mining companies. Prior to that, he was President, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Thompson Creek Metals Company Inc. until it was acquired by Centerra Gold Inc in 2016. He joined Thompson Creek as Chief Executive Officer in 2013 and took on the additional role of President in 2014. Among his previous senior executive positions in mining, he was President and CEO of St. Andrew Goldfields (2007-2013), Senior Vice President of Iamgold (2006-2007) and Senior Vice President Canada of Cambior Inc. (2004-2006). Mr. Perron has been a director of the Canadian Mineral Industry Education Foundation since 2007. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering from l'École Polytechnique de Montréal.

MS. JENNIFER PETERSON*
Coordinator, Workforce Planning and Talent Acquisition, Cameco Corporation

Jennifer Peterson joined Cameco in 2003 in the finance department and then moved into human resources in 2005. She has 20 years of experience in the mining industry.  Ms. Peterson is responsible for the coordination and oversight of Cameco’s workforce planning and talent acquisition activities, including immigration, education assistance and scholarship programs. She received a Bachelor of Commerce with distinction from the University of Saskatchewan in 2002.

MS. CLAUDIA D'ORAZIO

Executive Vice President, Chief Human Resources & Technology Officer, Centerra Gold Inc.

Claudia D’Orazio has over 25 years of leadership experience as a Senior Executive across a range of industries, including oil and gas, energy, mining, public audit, and finance. She has extensive depth and breadth of knowledge in human resources, risk management, internal audit, information technology, supply chain management, accounting, treasury, finance and mergers & acquisitions. Ms. D’Orazio is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Standard Lithium Ltd a leading near-commercial publicly listed lithium company and is currently the Executive Vice President, Chief Human Resources and Technology Officer at Centerra Gold Inc.  Prior to joining Centerra Gold, she held several executive roles at Pembina Pipeline Corporation from 2006 to 2020 including, Corporate Controller, Vice President Finance & Treasurer, Vice President Risk and Compliance and Vice President Human Resources. She was a champion of change management, transformational leadership and team development, diversity, equity and inclusion, health and wellness and led multiple acquisition integrations and employee initiatives. From 1994 to 2006, Ms. D’Orazio worked with the Royal Bank of Canada and held several progressive senior roles in Calgary, Toronto and Montreal. Ms. D’Orazio obtained her CPA designation while working at KPMG from 1991 to 1994. Ms. D’Orazio holds a Bachelor of Commerce, specializing in Accounting & Management Information Systems from McGill University (1991) and has her CPA designation.

MR. DEAN C. WINSOR*
Senior Vice President & Chief Human Resources Officer, Teck Resources Limited

 

Dean Winsor was appointed Senior Vice President & Chief Human Resources Officer in November 2018. He joined Teck in 1999 and previously held the position of Vice President, Human Resources. Mr. Winsor has 30 years of operations and corporate experience in the mining industry in the areas of human resources and procurement. He holds an MBA from Simon Fraser University and a Supply Chain Management Professional Designation from the Supply Chain Management Association. Mr. Winsor currently sits on the boards of Pacific Coast University, the National Institute of Disability Management & Research, the Canadian Mineral Industry Education Foundation and is Chair of the Board of the Mining Industry Human Resource Council.

MS. CHANTAL GOSSELIN

Corporate Director

Chantal is a seasoned professional with 30 years of experience in the mining industry and capital markets. Her expertise spans a wide range of areas, including underground operations, project management, construction, equity financial analysis and portfolio management. With a career rooted in national and international mining operations, complemented with financial equity market experience, Chantal has a deep understanding of the resource sector and its importance to the global economy.  

Present directorships include Ero Copper Corp, Pan American Silver, Prime Mining Corp and Wheaton Precious Metals Corp.

Chantal holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering from Laval University and a Master of Business Administration with focus on International Finance from Concordia University.
